Frith

Frith is a project I worked on while I was at Virtuos Montreal. It was an internal project collaboration with several artists there and art directed by Seif Ragab and Nicolas Vallet.
___
The story:
In a desolated realm of giants, sandstorms force every living organism to live into hiding. A family of giants and their baby are looking for a shelter. Hoping to save their baby from the incoming doom.
The stories tell of a storm, freezing everything in it's path. Leaving nothing but stones and despair in its path.

Seeing no way to escape the hell storm coming after them, the father turns around, plants his massive shield into the ground, trying to protect his beloved and their child from the gust. He pushed with all his might against the wind, with in his mind the only hope that he will be able to save his family. His wife shielding their baby and hiding behind him, praying for their offspring to survive this hell.
Eventually, the storm petrified the giant and his family into place.

Many, many years later, a group of settlers passing by saw the statue-like figures standing tall above the ground and started to build their village around it. Using the shield of the giant as an anchor for their roof-city, and building a temple around the mom and the child.
The villagers revere and pray to them as the stories say that the child isn't dead. Son of a god, he whispers to the wind and, one day, will awaken.
